Un résumé de la soirée (en anglais)

I have seen all of Bruce Springsteen's 14 appearances at the Light of Day Foundation's benefits over the years except one. While Bruce may be older, as are all of us, there are nights like the one we had tonight at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, where Bruce may have put on his best, if not one of his best Light of Day shows. Make no doubt about it, he still loves to play and tonight he was loose, having fun and on fire!
Bruce's first appearance of the night came at 9:10 p.m. when he joined Willie Nile for "One Guitar."
Joe Grushecky and the Houserockers with Jeff Kazee (Asbury Jukes) on the keyboards, came on at 10:50 p.m. Joe then introduced Gary U.S. Bonds who did "New Orleans." Then Bruce came out to join Grushecky and Bonds for "Jole Blon" and then "This Little Girl."
Bruce said he first saw Gary years ago at a place called the Airport Lounge in Hazlet, New Jersey. He then said how Gary is 86 years old and Bruce is young.
Next up was "Darkness on the Edge of Town" which was as powerful as ever.
Bruce asked a couple times after the song, "Is anyone alive out there in Jersey tonight??"
They then did the first of several tequila shots of the night.
Next Bruce talked about watching CNN one night and it said that he was a billionaire, one of the musicians who had a billion dollars.
He said "Maybe Paul McCartney and Paul Simon or Beyonce, but that he didn't have a billion dollars because "I have partners! The E Street Band."
He then played "Savin' Up" which was a lot of fun.
Two Joe Grushecky songs followed, "I'm Not Sleeping" and "Pumping Iron." Danny Clinch joined playing the harmonica. Some great guitar work by Bruce on the latter song.
Next up Bruce said "Here's a deep cut" and played "Lucky Town." Once again some awesome guitar playing by Bruce.
"Atlantic City" was next and then Grushecky's "Never Be Enough Time," which again featured some great guitar back and forth between Joe and Bruce.
"Johnny 99" followed and Bruce saw Danny Clinch on the side of the stage and said, "You got anything Danny? We're in the key of C.”Danny who had his camera around his neck, pulled out a harmonica and played along.
Bruce gave a speech before his next song, saying it was one of his great songs and a lot of what he said was similar to his thoughts on the things going on in the United States that he said on last year's "Land of Hope and Dreams" tour in Europe.
He reiterated what the mayor of Minneapolis said, "ICE get the "F" out" and he dedicated the song in "the memory of the mother of three and American citizen Renee Good." That led to "The Promised Land."
John Rzeznik of the Goo Goo Dolls, who had played an earlier great solo set, came out to join along.
As in the past, the show closed with all the evening's musicians coming out to sing "Light of Day" with Bob Benjamin being center stage. A cake was then brought out and everyone sang "Happy Birthday" to Bob.
The night concluded with an acoustic "Thunder Road," powerful as always.
The show ended at 12:26 a.m.
Not really sure what to say, Bruce Springsteen is the gift that keeps on giving. He may be 76 years old, but he is still absolutely incredible onstage.
Set List:
1. One Guitar (with Willie Nile)
Later in the show:
2. Jole Blon (with Gary U.S. Bonds and Joe Grushecky and the House Rockers)
3. This Little Girl (with Bonds and Grushecky.
4. Darkness of the Edge of Town (with Joe and the Houserockers)
5. Savin' Up
6. I'm Not Sleeping
7. Pumping Iron
8. Lucky Town
9. Atlantic City
10. Never Be Enough Time
11. Johnny 99
12. The Promised Land
Encores
13. Light of Day (with all the performers)
14. Happy Birthday to Bob Benjamin
15. Thunder Road (acoustic).
One other thing, while there's nothing like watching Bruce on stage, I like to turn around and look at the audience while he is playing. It's just magical how the entire theater is up, singing, smiling and knowing they are witnessing something very special.
