Soundcheck: Born in the USA / Centerfield/ The promised land / Green river Bruce et les E Streeters ont joué pendant deux heures, de 21h42 à 23h35. Trois changements importants ont marqué leur prestation : The ties that bind et Darkness on the Edge of Town ont remplacé Lonesome Day, Lost in the flood, et The River. A noter aussi que c'est Travelin' Band de Creedence qui a ouvert les rappels. En plus de "l'Annonce au Service Public" et de l'interview préenregistrée qui fut diffusée pendant les entractes (avec Bruce, Max et d'autres artistes de la tournée), Springsteen a fait quelques commentaires avant de jouer Johnny 99 : "Le Michigan a été rudement touché. 140 000 emplois industriels ont disparu, 7500 citoyens servent en Irak et en Afghanistan. Nous les saluons et nous rendons hommage à leur travail. Nous leur souhaitons aussi de retrouver rapidement leurs foyers." Une fois de plus, les rappels ont été interprétés par l'ensemble des artistes et animés par Conor Oberst (du groupe Bright Eyes), qui fut fidèle à sa légende. Toutefois, la scène était encore plus remplie que les soirées précédentes, car des invités spéciaux étaient là : The Dixie Chicks (qui venaient de faire une représentation au Fox Theater) ont en effet participé à la dernière chanson : People Have the Power, une chanson écrite par Patti Smith à l'époque où elle vivait à Detroit.
